Once upon a time there was a little girl named Cynderella who loved to design and sew clothes for her Barbie dolls. After tracing around dinner plates, on scraps of fabric, Cynderella would cut a hole in the fabric’s center to allow the new skirt to slide onto Barbie’s waist. Little did Cynderella know that this passion for design would someday develop into her own business, FUNctional Bags by Cynthia.
After meeting Prince Charming, Cynderella’s talents turned to creating costumes, mending tattered clothes, and interior decorating the palace. Once the children were grown, and the palace was empty, Cynderella had time to sew for fun. She helped establish a local quilter’s group; won ribbons at the Iowa State Fair for sewing; and best of all, created fun stuff for her grandchildren!
Cynderella expanded her hobby by designing several bags as prizes for a ladies’ golf tournament.
The ladies loved the FUNctional Bags so much, that before Cynderella knew it, the orders came flooding in. Sew… the rest of the story is history!

FUNctional Bags are one-of-a-kind, handmade in my home in Panora, Iowa. Each bag is lined with two interfacings for stability, machine quilted, and embroidered with FUN designs. Every bag has a reinforced interior bottom, magnetic snap closure, and pockets that line both sides of the interior. FUNctional Bags are machine washable on gentle cycle and may be laid flat to dry.
Each bag is designed and constructed with great attention to detail. I thoroughly enjoy selecting the fabrics and seeing each bag come to life! I hope you enjoy your FUNctional Bags as much as I enjoyed creating them!
